Green Garden DIY

This Memorial Day weekend we were busy bees working on a garden! Kyle's family decided that we should have a family garden at our house. I was thrilled because we had wanted a garden for awhile, but knew it was a really big job. We rented a rototiller and got to work. Here is what our garden looks like:

We had one little problem. Our hose is at the front of the house and won't reach all the way back to the garden. I had wanted a rain barrel because I loved the idea. So, when we were at our local True Value getting items for the garden, I picked up a small trashcan for only $15. Then, we put the trashcan under our gutter downspout. Lastly, we took some garden shears and cut out a small part of the lid to fit around the downspout. That way, we can put the lid on and keep gross stuff out of the water.

Here is what the hole looks like:

Now, we just fill up the watering can (that we got for cheap at ikea) to water the garden. It rained last night and it is already filled up! Yay for green and FREE water!

We recently got all of our wedding photos back so I am eager to finally hate some wedding DIYs that I have been promising for so long!
