We have a tutorial for you today! As some of you may know, I (Chanel) dye my her hair red and Mina does it for me. The other day when we were dying my hair, I realized I could transform a hair-tie. I had a hair-tie that I was tired of being lime green. It always stuck out in my red hair. So when we were done, I had Mina rub some of the hair dye on it. Here is a picture of the finished product:
Like I said, all you have to do is rub some of the hair dye you have left over (while still wearing the gloves). Then, you have to rinse it (just like your hair) or it will get on everything. I just took mine into the shower with me and it worked perfectly. Now I have a hair-tie that doesn't stick out and blends in with my hair. This would be perfect if you were going for a sleek ponytail look!
Happy DIYing!

Wednesday Pinsday, Part Deux!
It's Wednesday, which means it's time for round two of Pinsday pins.
Without further adieu, here are Mina's favorites...
What made Chanel's favorites this week?
Chanel loved the last pin so much that she (and a few friends) decided to take the opportunity to empty a great a bottle of wine. She then followed the simple DIY instructions and ended up with a lovely citronella smelling bottle to light up the warm summer nights and keep those pesky misquotes at bay.

Reverse! Reverse! Everybody clap your hands!
Even though our booth is still a youngster, this past weekend we decided to do a little reverse. So we went to the booth and changed things up a bit.
It is important to us to keep the booth fresh and new. So we gathered up our new price tags and started a moving dance.
Here are some pictures of the new(ly arranged) booth and of our favorite pieces!
If you are interested in any of the pieces, you can always find them at Midland Arts and Antiques in Indy.
If you have a specific piece you are looking for in your home, contact us. We will find the perfect piece and customize it to your liking.
And don't forget to look for a Wednesday Pinsday. Tomorrow we'll have a special treat- something we created and a craft from Pinterest that we aced!
Love Always,
Chanel & Mina

Flashback!
Hands down, this picture is still one of my favorites.
It was so cold we were both wearing berets and I was sporting my new British made trench coat we had found for 18 bucks the day before and Chanel had snapped up that beautiful, burnt orange gem just minutes before this photo was taken.
It just goes to show how much fun we have while we're out looking for items for our new Midland booth.

Exciting Update
Okay, okay, we’re terrible bloggers!
I don’t know if posting only twice in the last 14 months
classifies us as bloggers, but you now have our full attention. I promise that we
vanished after New Years for a reason and the wait was worth it.
Chanel and I have some big news… We’ve opened a
booth at Midland Arts and Antiques in downtown Indianapolis!
After the holiday hub-bub calmed down in early January and
we were sifting through all the furniture, home goods and vintage pieces we had
collected for our Historic Home Tour decoration and staging, we had a brain
wave- what if we opened a booth of our own?
For a few months now we’ve both been asked by several of our
friends, family members and even readers (I have a weekly column in the Times-Post
Newspaper) for help with their own DIY projects and we thought there could be a
real market for our particular double-dip view point.
We’ve spent the last month or so searching out some
seriously cool pieces and restoring/refinishing them with quiet squeals of
delight. Gone are the days when we pass garage and estate sales, swap meets and
antique booths because we lack the space in our homes for more awesome, vintage
finds. Sure, some of the items we pick-up look questionable in the beginning,
but we’re willing to put the elbow grease for you!
Our booth currently holds some great pieces, including a
royal blue refinished desk, a mid-century American grey buffet, antique Singer
sewing machines, 1960’s drink shakers and a vintage school desk for the kids!
As well as keeping our eyes peeled for great, one-of-a-kind
inventory for our booth, Chanel and I are available for Double-Dip-of-Hip consultations!
Need help searching for a perfect hutch, light fixture or statement mirror? Even
if you just need a helping hand refinishing your Grandmother’s end table or
want some advice on paint colors for your new kitchen- We’re you’re girls!
Here are some shots taken last evening after the booth was
finally staged and ready to go...

The last batch of items we brought inside...
An off-center, teal vintage Singer sewing machine
The crowd favorite royal blue desk
Also, we would love to hear from our readers! Let us know
how the item you picked up at the booth, big or small, worked into your home! Send
us your photos on Twitter or email them directly to DoubleDipofHip@gmail.com for your
chance to be featured on our blog.
More than anything, we would like to thank all of our future
customers and the supporters of our new business venture! We can’t wait to
start hearing from all of you!

Double Dipping in 2012
Happy New Year! As we ring in 2012, we have decided to start blogging again (it's kind of our resolution)!
And we wanted to start by talking about how we rang in the New Year.
Chanel hosted a party at her newly remodeled house with some great friends and we wanted to share some pictures of the fabulous soiree.
I got the idea for the banner from Pinterest. I had an encyclopedia that I bought years ago at Kroger for 50 cents. I cut triangles out of the encyclopedia pages and wrote words on each one with a permanent marker. I cut some yellow ribbon and taped each paper to the ribbon. Then I hung it on our bookshelf. Later I will post about a wreath I made from encyclopedia pages (and a wreath Mina made with felt, yarn and a hot glue gun).
As a centerpiece for the table I bought some noisemakers from a local party store. Mina and I ran to the party store the morning of the party and most were 50 cents or less. Then I put them on a cake plate with some tinsel. I also folded a paper crane with some scrap paper.

To feed the hungry masses, I made my eggnog cheesecake that is always a hit. We also bought some cheese that we put on our new cheese board that we received for Christmas.
Mina and I dressed up and had some fun as usual :) We made sure to make as much noise at midnight as possible and the whole crew took pots and pans outside to ring in the new year.
We were so happy to ring in the New Year with some of our greatest friends. And we look forward to sharing 2012 with you! We will be sharing some of our projects from 2011 and new ones that we are working on this year.
